The Supreme Court Appointment and Me Too Movement

Let me start off tonight talking about The Me Too movement #MeToo because I think there are way too many people using this movement to take revenge on people and not for what it was intended to do. So what is the Me Too Movement? Why was it even started and when? Well back in October of 2017 #MeToo went viral on social media because of the widespread abuse, sexual harassment, going on especially in the work place. It didn’t start because one morning a group of women woke up and decided they wanted to make a lot of noise and start yet another commotion in this country. No, it started following sexual misconduct allegations against Harvey Weinstein. This movement was started to help women come forward, to encourage them not to hide and to stand up and tell their story so others who have faced such harassment or assault would know they are not alone.

The history of Me too goes back before 2017, as far back as 2006 when social activist Tarana Burke started using the phrase on, you ready for this, Myspace social media network. That’s how long ago this started. She didn’t start using this phrase because of all these stars that have adopted her famous quote, but she did start to use it because she was inspired by a 13-year-old girl she was unable to respond to. This young girl needed someone to talk to and she found Tarana whom she confided she was sexually assaulted. Later, after she had time to think about it, Tarana has said she wished she had told this young girl, “me too.”

Fast forward to 2017 when actress Alyssa Milano started encouraging women to use the #MeToo to draw attention to sexual assault and harassment. We all must admit this is a good cause because no one should feel as if they are alone, but you know it’s not just women who are assault and sexually harassed. Since this movement started a year ago we have had more actresses come out with their stories about what happened to them some 25 years ago or more while they were working their way up the ladder of success. I am not saying it is right under any circumstances, but I am saying, why wait this long and for many of these women coming out, till their careers were on a spiral down. It brings in the question did this really happen or are they just looking for fifteen minutes of fame.

Ok, so now everyone is pissed off at me, a woman who can think this way. Well I’ll tell you why I feel this way because waiting all this time to come out and approach or accuse this person who allegedly attacked, harassed, or abused these women does not give the men or women accused of such actions the ability to prove their innocents but it does cast a shadow on their character. One they cannot clear because the evidence is long gone. I know it is not easy for someone to come forward and say they have been abused. Some step up immediately, others find the need to hide, they change the way they do things, they adjust their lives and keep it buried. Some find it necessary to talk about to keep sane and be able to live in the world around them while others find the only way they can live in this world is to keep it hidden for fear of what others may think. Yes, even in this day and age when we should be more open and understanding of those who have been bullied, harassed, abused, and assaulted, there are still those small-minded people who look down their nose at people in these situations.

This #MeToo movement is for anyone who has truly been assaulted, harassed, bullied, abused in any way shape or form. We have children, women, and men of all walks of life who have been put through this hell and are ashamed because to them, they allowed this to happen. This is how society has made them feel and it’s time we stop and start offering a helping hand to someone we think could use a shoulder to cry on or just someone to confide in. Someone who could help them understand they are not alone.

Now, you can see I do understand the Me-Too Movement. What I don’t like is the BS that is going on in this country today. Women are being allowed to come forward 25, 35, 40 years after a so-called assault and accuse someone of sexual assault, drag their names all through social media and the news and ruin a person’s life with no physical evidence to speak of.

Let’s look at the craziness surrounding the appointment of Judge Kavanaugh to the Supreme Court. Yep, that’s right, nod your head because you knew this is where I was headed from the beginning.  What a career the Judge has had. We know he graduated from Yale College cum laude, with a degree in American History. From there he went on to Yale Law School. He started his career as a law clerk and then went on to postgraduate fellow working under Judge Starr. When Starr moved on from D.C. Circuit to the Office of Independent Counsel, Kavanaugh followed him. Now, here’s a kicker and probably one of the many reasons the Democrats don’t like him, Kavanaugh assisted Starr in his investigations concerning President Bill Clinton. He even played a lead role in drafting the Starr Report.  If you think back to Clinton’s time as President you will remember this report urged the impeachment of none other than President Bill Clinton, who did assault and sexually harass women in the Oval Office!!!!!

When George W. Bush was elected President Judge Kavanaugh joined the administration as White House Staff Secretary. He was nominated to the U.S. Court of Appeals for the D.C. Circuit by President Bush in 2003. He has been investigated by the F.B.I. six times in his career as he moved up from one position to another. During the 2003 to 2018 time period he was found to have perhaps the most conservative voting record on the D.C. Court in every policy area.

He built a career for himself in the political arena and at any time over the years Dr. Ford could have stepped forward and made her accusations however, she chose to wait till he was nominated for Supreme Court Justice. Why? Why wait when you could have stopped him from moving forward years ago? Why wait and go to Senator Feinstein with a letter and ask her not to make it public? Why not have her talk to the committee in private and have them investigate this before it got to the point it is today?

The waiting, the timing, the inability to remember what happened, when, and where makes this hard to accept at face value. We are at a place in this country today where people are all for Dr. Ford and against Judge Kavanaugh or all for Judge Kavanaugh and all against Dr. Ford. My God even on this we cannot have an in between. At first, I was upset the Republicans have put voting on hold again and again to give her a chance to speak but then I thought about it. Let her talk, let her say her peace and have her time to be questioned but I implore the Committee to not handle this with kid gloves when she takes the stand because I know you will not handle Judge Kavanaugh with kid gloves and she should be put through the same harsh questioning. No holds barred in order to get to the truth on both sides.

Judge Kavanaugh could end this tonight if he so chose to but he is holding his ground. He is standing on his merit, his record, his reputation as a good man, a family man, and a man who loves his country and our Constitution. He is not hiding away trying to make negotiations with the Committee. He wants the truth to be told. He is willing to come forward and speak to them and he has not laid blame on anyone even though we all know this is the work of the left.

Dr. Ford has put off testifying time and again. Now she is to come forward on Thursday. I hope she does but if she doesn’t I hope the Committee puts and end to this farce and steps up to take a vote. It is time to stop playing political games. Did anyone ever think the Dr. is afraid to come forward and testify, not because of Judge Kavanaugh, but because she would or could be lying under oath. I do not disbelieve this happened to her, but I do question who she chose to point the finger at 40 years later.
The nomination committee has been more than understanding of Dr. Ford’s feelings and situation, but you must admit all the stalling, all the demands, only make you question more if she has total recall of what happened, if she is laying blame on the wrong person, or if she is just looking for her 15 minutes. I don’t know what she could bring to the hearings as proof this took place, but I do know he has an impeccable record to stand on and she had more than enough time over the years to step up and stop him in his tracks. If she really and honestly felt this man did such a thing to her then why wait?

Again, we need to hear both sides or rather the Committee does because in the end the vote is theirs to make. As for the craziness following this circus it hurts the #MeTooMovement. People who have been abused, assaulted, bullied, sexually assaulted, humiliated in the work place are less likely to come forward because of the fear they will not be believed. Unfortunately, in today’s society, women can come out and make these accusations some 40 years later and the men are automatically doomed. They are found guilty in public opinion and not given a chance to be heard. This is why I feel both parties need to be heard. It’s easy to say I was sexually assault by so and so 25, 35, 40 years ago but not easy to prove it, yet these women get to wave that magic wand, and ruin the lives of people who have no evidence in their defense because this is now a he said she said BS story that the news media loves.

So the next time someone uses #MeToo, instead of jumping on the band wagon, why not ask them if they understand why this was started. Why not ask them if they know about that 13-year-old girl who confided in Tarana Burke. If they say they don’t know anything about it then they don’t understand the #MeTooMovement. They don’t understand what so many are going through in this world and they don’t understand you can’t just cry wolf and ruin someone’s life because you need to have your 15 minutes of fame. Let’s stand together for the truth, for justice, for good old fashioned American values and morals and let’s not pass judgement on someone because someone else knows how to weave a story.

May God Bless America and may Lady Liberty hold strong!

Disgracing Their Memories

This week this county saw the live funerals of two Americans, Aretha Franklin and John McCain. Now I won't lie and tell you I watched either one but I did see and hear the rhetoric of both on the news and the internet. Actually I heard some things on facebook and I thought to myself, "No, that can't be right. No one in their right mind would use a funeral, a time to remember a loved one, as a political platform." Now I have to ask, "What the hell were they thinking?" Better yet, were they thinking?

I have never been to a funeral where the Pastors preferred to take a pot shot at the President or any public figure instead of talking about the accomplishments of the person lying in wake. I don't understand how being a man or woman of God they can have such hate in their hearts and then wonder what is wrong with this world today.  I do get how the politicians who spoke could do such a thing, after all, they would use anything as a platform to get their point across.

I have always loved the study of religions since I was a child. When I got older I started to understand the politics of this great nation. I was upset when prayer was removed from school and I was only a child at the time. Our teachers taught us about the separation of church and state. Today there is no separation except certain people cannot say prayer in school while others are allowed to say prayer in school, work, or where ever they are at.

Priests, Pastors, Reverends today seem to have lost their way. They are not in a battle with evil but in a battle with politics. They all want to stand up and be heard about this political topic or that when all the people really need from them is some understanding and peaceful guidance. The churches of today are not what they used to be and then they wonder why people are not attending as they used to.

I was born and raised Catholic. I love my church, Saint Anthony's in Silver Lake are of Belleville, NJ.  As a young girl I felt the love of God when I walked through the doors but over the years it has changed. Although now they have an amazing Priest there, Father Dave, who brings laughter and the human side of religion back to his sermons. Still when I walk in the church today I don't feel the love there once was. I don't feel the hug of the angels as I enter that door. How could you when so many people walk through the doors of any given church, not just mine, with hate and disgust in their souls.

Just reading what these people had to say in these two funerals, Senator McCain's daughter even took her shot. It was her father's funeral and it was her final chance to tell wonderful stories of her life growing up with her dad, of all the things they did together, and she chooses to tarnish that with a pot shot at the Presidents slogan by saying her father's America was always great! Well let me tell you all this that is a bunch of  poppycock.

I grew up in John McCains America. I was a teenager during the Viet Nam war and I watched our soldiers come home and the hate that was encouraged and thrown at them. I watched this great nation over the years go from a time of loving the flag and all it represents to destroying it in order to make a statement. The only statement they made was they don't respect or care about the flag and the men and women who fought for it. I watched this country go from a generation of hard working people fighting to improve things for their children and grandchildren to a bunch of pansies who are afraid to stand up for what they believe in for fear of offending someone. Give me a break.

We went from standing in the light of day and spreading our wings to soar, to walking down a dark tunnel trying to find our way out with little to no light. Why, because business after business was leaving this country and one by one people were losing their jobs, their homes, families were splitting up because they could no longer take the stress of being together and not being able to support each other. Sadness showed on many faces and the homeless numbers grew. The light we used to walk through this tunnel was getting weaker and weaker by the moment. No America was not what it once was.

We had Presidents who thought they were doing the right thing for this nation but things just weren't working out so the country voted in our first black President. I won't lie to you, he ran two times and I voted against him both times but when he was in office I respected him because he was my President regardless. Still he had a chance to do what was right for the minority in this great nation and instead things got progressively worse. Tensions between blacks and whites went back to the 1960's. My God there were riots in the streets just like 1968 and the only ones that get hurt at such acts are the people, not those in public office. People were burned out of their houses and business but guess what folks the politicians still got to go to work the next day and collect that check your taxes paid them. Our wonderful  President at the time, his administration, and Congress still made the big bucks even though you couldn't afford to feed your family and companies were leaving this country in droves. Crime and violence was on the rise and our police were put under microscopes while our so called leaders turned the people against them putting a target on their backs and making it harder for them to do their jobs. Criminals were their hero's.

Then we vote in President Trump. Granted many democrats are upset and aren't happy with the vote but if others in the past had to suck it up when their candidate lost why is it so different now. I'll tell you why. I'll tell you why these pastors and politicians chose these two funerals to take a stand and knock President Trump in the oh so subtle way because he is getting the job done they only talk about. Pastors and politicians talk about bringing the community together, making improvements, helping the people but they aren't. Instead they are dividing the people, they are fighting to keep the hate alive in this great nation. To them President Trump is a threat!

You don't believe me then look at the facts, American companies are coming back to America, tariffs have been put in place for fair trade, unemployment rate is down, blacks and Hispanics unemployment numbers are at an all time low as are, unemployment numbers for women. President Trump gave us a list of his goals when he was Candidate Trump and one by one he is keeping his promises and ticking them off his to-do list. There have even been summits with Russia and Korea. Korea no one has been able to get two steps ahead of until now. At least the lines of communications are opened and there is hope for putting an end to the craziness of the past.

The only thing that has ever stood in his way these past two years is our very own Congress. Those "wonderful" men and women we voted into office to do what was best for this country not their pockets yet they find it better to spend their days bad mouthing the President and this great nation. We now have a Democratic party that looks and feels like a communist regime. This is not what America is supposed to be. Listen to their words of hate, racism, disgust, and their rhetoric to keep this country torn apart. Rhetoric this week, that followed them to funeral services of two public figures which brings me back to the beginning of this blog.

America needs to wake up and see the propaganda for what it is. It's time to tell any political figure if they do not do what is best for the United States of America and all it's citizens they will not be in office. America is finally seeing the light at the end of the tunnel. We cannot allow those nay sayer's to keep stepping on our rights, to keep dragging this country down, to pull us back into the dark and put the lights of Ms. Liberty out for good. It's time to stand together and unite. It's time to realize this country needed fixing and it did need to be made great again, as it needs to be made safe again. So let's stand together with our President and see to it no one stands in the way of our progress.

In closing I would like to say to the families and friends of Aretha Franklin and Senator John McCain, I am truly sorry for your loss. May they R.I.P. in the arms of the Lord.

May God Bless and keep this great nation safe and united.

The Men and Women of Yesteryear

The Men and Women of Yesteryear
By Toni Gamarro

The men and women of yesteryear,
in my heart I hold dear.
They were cut from a different mold,
strong, determined and bold.
Their love for this country was burned in their soul,
even as war after war took its toll.
These men and women were a strong breed,
determination was their creed.
I often listened to the stories they told,
hearing them never grew old.
They talked of when this country went to war,
and the men were called to serve the corps,
which they did with pride in their heart,
hugging their families, saying good bye to their sweetheart.
Off they marched to protect the red, white and blue,
while most women stayed here to do what they had to,
serving their country in a different way.
Today they would shake their heads in dismay,
at the way the people of this great land
are afraid to take a stand,
allowing us to be divided again,
by nasty, hate filled women and men.
It’s sad when you think of all they went through
to protect the freedoms of the red, white, and blue.
Freedoms many take for granted today.
What’s the big deal they say!
Perhaps you should open a book and read,
learn about this strong breed,
of men and women who carved the way,
so you could have a future today.
A reason to hold your head high and proud,
to be able to speak and be heard above the crowd.
To be free to do as you so choose,
each of us able to have our own views.
Amazing how they carved out the land
and a constitution on which we could stand.
Yes, some stories I heard with my own two ears
and others were read in books through the years.
We have so many to thank for the freedoms we are blessed.
Why do we put it to the test?
Stand together united and true,
protect the freedoms of the red, white, and blue.
No fighting from within
because that is how evil will win.
The men and women of yesteryear
knew how to overcome their fear.
If they were here to speak today
I think I know what they would say.
Protect your freedoms and stand united,
don’t become shortsighted.
Do not let their work be tossed aside,
hold your head high with American Pride,
for they believed in the task at hand.
They fought hard for this great land,
and it’s our job to see it through,
we must always protect the red, white and blue.

When Are We Going to Learn?

Hello everyone,

I know I've been quiet for a while and I do apologize. I was hoping by now things in this country would have turned around and the people would realize they need to work together in order to bring this country around. Unfortunately that is not what is happening. I'm not putting all of this on the Democrats because we all know there are some very nasty Republicans as well but it needs to stop. This is not what our forefathers had in mind for this country. I do not believe it was their dream.
For their time they believed they were doing what was right for this country and they knew as the times changed so would our laws, our Constitution but the main frame of it will stand strong.

I listen to people when we talk about illegal aliens and deportation. How so many are willing to stand up and say everyone has a right to be in this country and we should just let them be, after all, we aren't here legally because the Native Americans were here first. We invaded their land. Yes, we did. We came to this country with a dream and a hope for a new start. These men and women were not perfect but their vision was to have a better life for their families then they had across the pond. War broke out between the Native Americans and the settlers but it is no different than any other country who saw what they wanted and fought for it. Look at the wars of this world, they are always over land and who is going to come out on top. The new governments that takes over changes things to suit their way of life, their beliefs. That being said, I do not agree with the way our Native Americans were treated but I do not feel we are illegal in our own country.

I can't say what our forefathers were thinking when they went to war with the Native Americans or what our Native Americans were thinking when they went to war with our forefathers but I do know in all wars there is supposed to be a winner and loser. There is no trophy in war for just participating, you have to do what needs to be done in order to get the gold ring. I have a few Native American friends, some who grew up on a reservation and others who haven't. I love them with all my heart and I know my life is better for knowing them. I have learned so much from each one and I hope I have touched their lives just the same. I wish our forefathers and theirs could have found a better way to get along and figure out how to share this great land on an equal basis but that was a different time.

Today we have laws in place to protect us from people who are not here legally. There seems to be a problem with some Americans understanding the word illegal. We have people who have come to this great nation to improve their lives the right way for the time they were coming here. Over the years we have changed requirements and procedures for entering this country legally and there are people who wait for the privileged to be able to come here according to our laws. These people are properly vetted, they want to come to this country and become a part of it, become a citizen. They are proud to do so and yet we have American citizens ashamed to be American citizens.

They slap this country in the face by not standing for the national anthem, they protest to allow illegals in this country, the fight to get rid of ICE whose job is to keep the people of this great nation, including those fighting against it from within, safe. When do we stop and start working together?
When do we start to realize our laws were made to protect all American citizens? When do we start working together, with our President, regardless of your political affiliation, to improve this great nation? To bring it back to what our forefathers saw in their vision for our shores, for what we remember growing up, and for what President Trump is fighting for.

Are  you all really so against making a better life for yourself, your children and your grandchildren that you don't see the evil fighting to invade us from within? Are you really so blind you don't understand the importance of not giving it all away but letting people work for a living and obey our laws? I believe we need to start teaching our children, once again, about the history of this great land. The real history not the imaginary version so many have come up with over the years. Teach our children respect, values, and honor. Teach them to love this land because we are different than other countries and we strive to be better in order to make their lives better with each generation. We seem to be taking steps backwards instead of moving ahead and improving this generation. We can't allow that. We need to stand with President Trump and fight for what we believe in, America, our people, and our Constitution.

May God help guide us in the right direction and May God Bless America!

Stand for Our Second Amendment and Not Walk Out Against It

Once again, our Second Amendment is under attack but this time by our young people who feel they know more than our founding fathers. Today was March out of school day in support of gun control. Of course, they are using the shooting at the Parkland school as the reason behind this walk out and I for one feel that this is wrong.

Let me explain why. Children, teenagers all over this country will stand up and walk out for the victims of the horrific shooting in Florida yet they turn their head and look the other way when someone in their school is being bullied. I live in New Jersey and I did see a couple of schools walk out today but there wasn’t a sad face among them or a sign being held in support of those in Florida. It was just a reason to walk out of school.

I have seen images of other areas where the students held up signs in protest asking for help regarding the Second Amendment. One of the signs I saw today in a picture on social media is the reason I am writing this. A young girl held up a sign that stated, “The Second Amendment isn’t meant to protect our citizens.” She must have missed history class the day they covered what our Second Amendment stands for and the day may come when she feels she should have paid closer attention. Another sign was “De-Militarize the Police.” So now we they want us to take the guns away from our police while our criminals still get to arm themselves with guns purchased illegally. Make no doubt about it, if a criminal needs a weapon he is not going to go through proper channels to get a gun. Heck they don’t even need a gun to do harm. Fatal crimes are committed every day with the use of a knife, a car, unfortunately bombs, and anything else a criminal can get their hands on if they really want to do harm.

Now let’s talk about our Second Amendment. Our Second Amendment wasn’t adopted so people would be able to have guns to go hunting, to spend some father and son time bonding, or to go to the shooting range for practice. No, our Second Amendment was put in force to protect American citizens and it’s a sin these children don’t know what it stands for. It’s a crying shame they are being brainwashed by their parents and whomever else is telling them it will do more harm than good.

Our Second Amendment is in place to protect every American citizen from a government that could destroy our country from within. A government that wants to take our guns away, so they have more strength, power, then it’s citizens. Our forefathers debated this issue, as I have said before, for a while before coming up with our right to bear arms because of the tyranny they experienced under the government they fought so hard to escape. The Second Amendment was meant to allow American Citizens the right to arm themselves, so they can protect their home, family, and community, against a government invasion. You don’t think that could happen then think again.

The Democratic way of going about disarming the American people is mirrored to that of Germany during WWII. Take away our weapons so we will be have no choice but to be submissive to the tyranny of our government. We will lose our ability to protect ourselves, our family, and our homes. Our Second Amendment protects this from happening. It gives the American people the right to not only bear arms and protect their homes and families but also gives us a militia if ever there comes a time when our government needs us.

The way the Obama administration depleted our military it could have been disastrous if we found the enemy on our soil with little support from our military. That would be where our civilian militia comes into play and why our Second Amendment needs to be left alone. Maybe we all need to sit down and talk to each other not at each other. Maybe teachers need to start teaching again instead of just making sure our children have good test scores because if American History was really taught in classes today then children would understand the importance of the Second Amendment and our right to bear arms. Our right to stand up for ourselves, our families, and our country. Our right to protect and serve if we are so called to arms. Our right to make sure the shores of the United States of America are free from enemy attack. Our right to secure our boarders and protect our citizens from terrorist attacks.

No, the Second Amendment was not taken lightly by our forefathers, but it is being battered around by those who do not appreciate or understand the Constitution of the United States of America. Take the time to read it, learn about it, appreciate it, and understand it because there are millions of people trying to get into this country every year to flea the lives they have under a government that is suppressive, controlling and they see this country as their refuge. Open your eyes before it is too late, and you lose all so many have fought so hard for. If you aren’t happy here, maybe you need to do a little research and find out what other countries are like before you keep attacking the foundation this nation was formed on.

“The strongest reason for the people to retain their right to keep and bear arms is a last resort to protect themselves against tyranny in government” Thomas Jefferson

Yes, the Second Amendment is there to protect American citizens and we need to make sure it stays there.

May God Bless America and open up the hearts and minds of all Americans so we can work together for a better tomorrow and May God Bless our President.

Bill H.R. 5087 Assault Weapons Ban 2018 Steps On Our Second Amendment Rights

So what exactly is the Bill that stands before Congress entitled H.R. 5087 Short title they want us to hear is Assault Weapons Ban 2018.....You ready for it? This bill is not as innocent as it may sound. It is to regulate the importation, manufacture, possession, sale or transfer of assault weapons, and for other purposes.

Sounds like what many people have been yelling they want but what about all those who have purchased guns legally and show them the respect they deserve. Let's look into this bill and what's hidden here and not specified in the title.

Let's start off with saying the Democrats of the House introduced this bill and with that goes a lot more than we have been told. They used the heartbreak of the Parkland, Florida school shooting to bring this bill to the floor in hopes that "We the People" will be too blind with sorrow and pain to take the time to read their hidden agenda tucked quietly inside this bill.

This bill was introduced by Reps. David Cicilline (D R.I.) and Ted Deutch (D-Fla) and co-sponsored by 166 other Democrats all with their own hidden agenda to disarm the American people and give big government power over it's citizens. So maybe some of you are thinking I am in favor of the mass shootings going on around this country. No of course I'm not, but I am in favor of every American citizen keeping their Second Amendment Right as it was written so we can stand strong in case our government ever needs us or we ever need to stand united against it as we had to do in the past. Remember Great Britain and the Revolutionary War? All those men fought so we could live a free life and be proud of what this country is, compared to any others. Hold our head high and say we are Americans who live in "the land of the free because of the brave."

The bill is posted for all to read and figure out for themselves but here are a few things to take note of: it "prohibit the sale, production, transfer and importation" of more than just what the average person would get from the title of the bill. Here are some of the things we need to consider.

1. semi-automatic rifles and pistols with a military style feature that can accept a detachable magazine.
2. All semi-automatic rifles with a fixed magazine that can hold more than 10 rounds.
3. Semi-automatic shotguns with a military style feature
4. Any ammunition feeding device that can hold more than 10 rounds
5. There are 205 specifically named and listed firearms in this bill.

So by military style features they are talking about: pistol grip; forward grip; detachable magazine, folding, telescoping, or detachable stock, grenade launcher or rocket launcher, barrel shroud, threaded barrel. So now we have a better look at what they are talking about. It bans A.R. rifles and pistols made by Sig Sauer, Ruger, Springfield Armory, Smith & Wesson, Steyr, CZ, IWI, Heckler & Koch, Daniel Defense, Armalite, Remington, Rock River Arms, Bushmaster, FN, Barret and the list goes on so please check it out. Of course the ban also includes "all AK types." So now we need to get into the minds of these Democrats. Scary thought!

This bill makes an amendment to Section 921(a) of title 18, United States Code which states: (29)The term handgun means: (a) a firearm which has a short stock and is designed to be held and fired by the use of a single hand; and (b) any combination of parts from which a firearm described in subparagraph (a) can be assembled.

Whats the amendment by inserting after paragraph (29): (30) The term semiautomatic pistol means any repeating pistol that- (A) utilizes a portion of the energy of a firing cartridge to extract the fired cartridge case and chamber the next round: and (B) requires a separate pull of the trigger to fire each cartridge.

It then goes on to list all the weapons on their list of what American citizens do not need to have in their possession legally. Please take the time to read this if you value your Second Amendment Rights.

I am sure there are some issues in this bill we will be more than happy to agree with like background checks. I agree we shouldn't be able to purchase guns at a gun show unless we go through a background check our sell a gun to a stranger or neighbor without a background check. I don't recall seeing anything in there that specifies mentally ill data base so law enforcement knows who to approve for a gun license and who should be refused based on their mental stability. I thought that was going to be a big push in this bill but maybe I am not understanding it.

The Democrats want good American Citizens to give up their right to buy what ever type of gun they so chose to purchase. Make no mistake about what this amendment is doing. It is punishing law abiding citizens and still these guns will be available to the criminals on the street. Cracking down on legally purchased gums makes no sense to me. I did not see anything about raising the legal age of purchasing a gun either, So what are we doing just banning American citizens who legally purchase guns from purchasing just the types listed in this amendment.

If we allow this, if we sit back and allow our government to take away our right to choose the weapon we wish to purchase we might as well turn our weapons over to them. I do not own guns but I was raised around them. My father taught us they were not a toy. Never put a gun away loaded and never keep it within arms reach of someone too young to respect and understand what it can do. I am not a fan of the weapons used in these mass shootings, no one is a fan of what is going on in this country and around the world but to take away the list of guns in this bill is a big step in stripping us of our Second Amendment Right and giving big government a strong hold over the American people.

Judge for yourself: https://www.govtrack.us/congress/bills/115/hr5087/text/ih   Read the bill and then contact your representatives and let them know what you think. I stand with my Second Amendment Right because at no time should any American citizen be under the thumb of a government stronger than their own militia if the time so arises to call to arms. At no time should the United States of America feel it cannot call upon it's citizens to take up arms and protect all we have built and fought for in our country if the enemy should come to our shores. United we need to stand for Divided we will fall.

"The beauty of the Second Amendment is that it will not be needed until they try to take it." Thomas Jefferson

May God Bless America and keep us United for the good of all.

Tragedy Starts Discussions, Our Children Are Stepping Up!

Sorry I have been quiet for a while. My last post was in October. I let life and the holidays get in my way. That last post covered what once again is in the news and being attacked by everyone who thinks they understand the Second Amendment, Our Right to Bear Arms.

As I have said before, after every mass shooting, no matter where it may happen, there is a cry for gun control.  Not a worry about guns on the street but the control of guns bought legally by law abiding citizens. I will give you this, more regulations need to be put on how they approve someone who is purchasing a gun, no matter what type it is. We have to all agree on the point in fact that the person, I will not mention his name it gives him to much credit, who committed this horrific act in Florida this past week was someone who never should have been allowed to purchase a gun. From the reports given he has been in trouble with the police going to his house numerous times. I am not sure of the amount because I heard one report that said 30 and another that said 39, either way it doesn't matter because they were called there for him and not someone else. He was expelled from the school he attacked last year for bringing, again two different stories I heard, a knife to school and another said bullet shells to school. No matter he was expelled for reasons that should have been reported to the police. The kicker is however, he was reported to the FBI six months ago because of his posts on Instagram and again at the beginning of January the police were notified about his postings and rantings but nothing was done.

Of course after the shooting we also heard  he was under doctors care for ADHD and other emotional issues but he has had a rough time losing his family and we can expect someone who lost so much needing help. However, there is no data base hooked from state to state that will tell officials a person has been under psychiatric care and is being treated with medication. I am not sure if this young man was being treated with medication but the first things out of everyone's mouth was mental illness and gun control. My God the poor victims were still at the scene of the crime and everyone is speculating instead of waiting for reports to come in and the truth to come out.

First things first. Our Second Amendment Right isn't a drop in the bucket and didn't take our forefathers a few minutes to stick into the Bill of Rights. They debated this issue and for good cause. They never wanted a government more armed than it's people because that is one of the things they fled from and wanted a better life in their new world. One where they could feel safe and their families would be protected. They were armed and ready to be the militia if it so called for it to protect their families, their homes, and their country. It is no different today, if a person who has a legal gun is needed to stand up and take action be it help the police, protect his home, protect  his country if the call so arises, that is what our Second Amendment stands for and why so many people fight for our right to bear arms.

The bigger issue is we are not doing what is needed to vet these people who purchase guns and perhaps change the age limits as to when someone could purchase a gun such as the one used in the shooting this past week. Again just because we change the age to, let's say, 25 doesn't mean the person buying the gun at that age is balanced enough to not use it to cause harm. A good point was brought out this past week on one of the news reports. When you fill out an application for a gun there is a question on it that asks if you have ever been treated for a mental illness. I'm sorry but no one is going to answer yes to that question. There needs to be a data base set up where if someone is even treated for any form of mental illness they should be entered into the system and it shared from state to state since people do tend to move about.

When a police officer is hired he must go through a psychiatric evaluation. I see no reason why someone purchasing a gun should not have to go through the same thing. You are not handing out candy bars at a fair you are giving someone a weapon that can do harm if put into the wrong hands so why not take the time to have the person evaluated and go through the same training for gun handling the police go through. Our police have to qualify to use their weapons not just one time when they get on the force but periodically once on the force. I am not sure each department has the same time such as six months or a year but I would think anyone with a firearm should have to qualify with it yearly or else lose their permit until they do.

So better gun control should mean re-evaluating what age a person could legally purchase a weapon such as a handgun, and what age they should be able to purchase an assault rifle. Of course each state has their own gun laws but this needs to come from Congress. I would like to ask them to put into law the right to carry, no more gun free zones because it hurts the innocent when someone who has a permit to carry cannot protect them from someone who wishes to do harm, for a person to have to qualify at least yearly with their weapon, to change the ages in which someone can legally purchase a gun and an assault weapon, most importantly they need to put a plan into place for a data base for those who are being treated for mental illness of any kind at any age. No more falling through the cracks.

Personally, I don't feel this young man committed these murders because of mental illness. From what we heard this was a well thought out plan. He knew what he was doing to get the children out of their classes by ringing the fire alarm. He knew where it was located and how to get into the school unnoticed. He knew the layout of the school and school procedure so he used that all to his advantage. Does he look remorseful, I'm not sure. I have seen him paraded on television going in and out of court this past week but how much of it is his not wanting to face the people who are hurting and how much of it is he is sorry. I can't tell and neither can anyone else. We have heard his attorney say how sorry he is for all he has done but if that were the case then why even do it. In my opinion, he is showing the remorse to help his case otherwise he can face the death penalty.

Am I being hard on him, yes I am. There are families suffering in the wake of all this craziness and the only thing people want to talk about is gun control. I listened to some young students on the news from this school last evening. Each coming from a different direction on their thoughts of what needs to be done and as to why they are planning a march on Washington and still I hear their parents words and not that of a sophomore or junior in high school. We all know how a parents politics in many cases, can and will influence their children. I think a march on Washington is a great idea and to sit down with the President and talk to him about what they have experience will better help him understand how to present it to Congress but these kids are upset because he addressed mental illness and not gun control. Again they lived it, we didn't, but they are also listening to parents who are upset right now and want to strike while the iron is hot. Many want to take guns from law abiding citizens and many want to have the laws changed so not everyone is on the same page but it is a starting point and hopefully something we, as a nation, can build on. In doing so we need to see to it that no one's rights are infringed upon and everyone is protected. Perhaps out of the mouths of babes is where it will come from and be heard. I wish them the best of luck. They felt they needed to do something to honor and remember their friends and loved ones. This brought them together to work to get the job done or at least started. They will be heard and I applaud each and everyone of them. I hope others will join in on this march to show their support. May God Bless them on their journey and guide them on their way.

We have a President in office who wants to see a better America. He wants to Make America Great Again. I have every confidence in him to listen and weigh what these young people will say to him. To hear their pleas for help so no one ever has to go through this again but what we all have to remember is he is only one man. Congress makes the laws and he signs them. Congress needs to stop arguing over what needs to be done and then pushing it away till some other tragedy comes up and they get to stand on their soap box and shout out about the bill they produced that wasn't passed. We don't want to hear it anymore. These children are asking you to make the changes. They are asking you to come together and stop acting like children and start talking about and seeing to it issues that concern the safety and well being of the American people are addressed. It is not just gun laws you hold your breath on and refuse to compromise so everyone benefits. Time to stand up and do your job and see to it everyone, of every age, in this great nation does not have their rights infringed, are able to feel safe in their own environment, and can once again be proud of their Congress, of their government. Congress, these are children who are suffering, in pain, marching to be heard. Please listen and perhaps you will learn how to come together and in doing so you will succeed in fixing what is broken and has been broken in this great nation for so long.  It is time we all work together as a nation, Our President, Congress, State and Local Governments, and the people to Make America Great Again. No more personal agendas. It's all about America and Americans First!

May God Bless these young people as they make their way to Washington to be heard. May God open the eyes and ears of the our law makers so we can make a change for the better. May God Bless our President and May God Bless America!
