H.R. 785 National Rights to Work Act, Not what it appears to be!

Like the rest of America I watch the news and listen to the reports and different "opinions" of what has become today's news forecasters. I don't know about the rest of you but I am so tired of the bashing of President Trump. Look, I was not an Obama supporter but like it or not, for the past 8 years, he was in charge of this country and we had to deal with it.

Did ex President Obama wire tap Trump Towers? Well there is proof that he did but then again the Dem's and any other member of Congress who is anti Trump is trying so hard to make him look as if he has no clue. I don't know about anyone else but I think the big problem here isn't if Trump is right or not. The big problem here is all the denial and no one wanting to do the work needed to get to the truth. We have had mixed reports for the past week with certain news stations going as far as calling the President crazy and others showing proof he is right about a wire tap. Since everyone wants to give their opinion here's mine, Comey needs to do his job and stop acting as if he is still working for the past administration. The man needs to be released if he cannot handle the investigation and honestly get to the bottom of it. Just figure this out, since we know there was a wire tap, all they need to do is figure out where the hell  it originated from and if Obama knew about.

If he didn't know about it then what the hell was he doing in office because as President wire tapping a Presidential candidate should have been approved by him. Of course, it is possible he didn't know since he was out on the campaign trail trying to shame Democrats to vote for Clinton instead of Trump. Remember him standing in a public forum and telling people he would consider it a personal insult, disrespect to him, if they did not vote for Clinton. Let's not also forget his plea to ILLEGAL ALIENS to get out there and vote. So the Dem's want to deny the wire tap and also voter fraud which was openly promoted by the then President of the U.S.A. Shame on him.

I am so tired of the demands these holy than thou Congressman are putting on the President demanding he show proof of said wire tap by Monday. Are you freaking kidding me? They all know the same thing President Trump knows and if it is covered under certain security clearance there is no way President Trump will release it to the public till the investigation is complete. He has said time and again he was not going to televise what actions he was going to take when it came to facing the enemy. I'm sorry to say if someone in the past administration wire tapped Trump Towers and then followed through with leaks we have been hearing, then whoever this is would be considered an enemy and needs to be treated as such. I stand behind President Trump's request to have Congress investigate the possibility of this wire tap coming from the Oval Office. Hey if they want this to be put to rest then do the freaking job and investigate it but what ever you do, don't use Comey. He is still in Clinton and Obama's pocket.

Believe it or not there are some real issues that the American people, "We the People," voted President Trump into office for. Issues that are near and dear to our heart because we want to see a future for our children and grandchildren. One of the bills put forth to over the past few weeks is H.R. 785 introduced by Republican Representative of Iowa: Steve King, the National Rights to Work Act. What it sounds like isn't what it's all about.

This is the way I understand the breakdown of this bill, it is supposed to put a end to big labor federally authorized power to force workers to pay union dues or fees as a condition of employment. It claims no worker should be forced to pay union dues in order to keep their job.

This bill changes or removes the language of the National Labor Relations Act which gives unions the right to take dues from non union members as a condition of employment. So here's the problem with this as I see it from the reading I have been doing on the issue. Unions are there to fight for their workers. They see to it that the conditions workers are working under are kept up to standard.

This bill, the Right to Work Act requires unions and union workers to cover the cost of non-union workers who will benefit from the contracts unions negotiate for their members. That includes working conditions, vacations, sick days, pay raises, and benefits. I don't see the fairness in this.

When I heard the name of the bill the first thing I thought was, "Oh, great, sounds like they are creating jobs." Then I started doing my research and got the buzzer on that one. No, that is not what this bill is about. It does not create jobs, help the middle class, or the lives of the working man or woman.

In doing my research I read arguments that twenty seven states in the United States currently have the Right to Work protections in their states. Now Congress would like us to believe this is an improvement for the American people but it is only lining pockets of big business. It allows them to not worry about keeping up with safety standards causing more accidents in the workplace and the possibility of some employees not being able to return to work due to their injuries, or worse yet killed on the job.

Congress would also like us to believe the Right to Work Act will bring about greater job development in the private sector as well as higher disposable incomes then states without the Right to Work protections. Again a big buzzer went off in my head as I read on and learned out of the twenty seven states that have the Right to Work protection  nine out of ten states have the highest poverty levels, lowest paying jobs, earning about $ 1,500.00 a year less than workers without the Right to Work protection and the bargaining power of their union. Workers who live in Right to Work protected states are less likely to have their employers pay even half of the health benefits and pensions let alone all of it.

My personal opinion once again comes from my childhood, my life, being from a family of Union Workers. The first time I remember a Union being mentioned with so much pride was my maternal grandmother as she boasted she was a part of the "International Ladies Garment Workers Union." She was so proud of being a part of the union and having people who cared about the way she worked and saw to it she wasn't forced to work in a sweatshop. She was proud of the way the union represented their workers and saw to it they were paid a good pay for an honest days work.

My father was also a union worker. He worked for the Newark, New Jersey school board for over forty years. At one time he was even a shop steward and helped workers who needed it for whatever reason. He raved about unions and how he would not have had benefits if it was not for the union. He spoke of the contracts that were negotiated for the betterment of the union workers. It never bothered him to pay his union dues because he knew if he ever needed them they would be there to back him up. He knew that when he retired he would have what he needed to live his life and not worry about insurance or how he was going to survive because he not only would collect social security he would have his pension. If conditions at work were not up to par the union representative took care of it.

My sons, my brother, my daughter, and my husband are all part of one union or another so you see I am a strong believer in unions. No they are not perfect but nothing ever is. The point is they work for the betterment of the worker not for the betterment of big business.

If there are twenty seven states who have chosen to use the Right to Work protection without the interference of Congress, on their state level, then why not just leave it up to each state? If a state so chooses to use the Right to Work protection, don't sneak it in on a bill behind everyone's back and make it sound as if you are creating jobs. Put it in writing and on a ballot so the people can vote on it, not Congress.

"We the People," have to start opening our eyes and realize the average American makes about 1/3 of what a Congressman/woman makes. They can stand there and rant and rave about not needing cost of living wages for the average american or have a union fight for your right to a pension or benefits but guess what folks while they are passing legislation to make these changes in your life, they are passing legislation to give themselves a raise and ensure they have benefits far better than Obamacare and pensions we will never see.

I am going to contact my representative and tell them I don't want this bill passed. I want this decision to be put on the states ballot at election time and let the people of each state make their own decision. In other words they need to keep their hands out of the middle class workers pockets.

May God Bless America and guide us to a bigger and brighter future.
