President Trump's Address to Congress

I’m an American, proud and true, but last night Congress, or at least the Democratic side was an embarrassment to all Americans regardless of your party affiliation. Last night was not about which party you belong to it was about unifying this country but before the start of President Trump’s address many Democrats already had the mind set they weren’t going to give in.

Ok so let’s talk high school behavior from our so called leaders. Before President Trump even took to the podium we had members of Congress boycotting the evening while others were talking about making sure they were not going to be in an aisle seat because they didn’t want to have to shake the Presidents hand. Really? How old are these freaking idiots? Oh that’s right, many of them are so old they are actually going through their second childhood and perhaps need to be removed from office because they have been there too long and are not interested in what the American people need but their own egos. Men like New York Democratic Rep. Elio Engel who said he simply could not shake the hand of President Donald Trump because he is disappointed with what the president has been doing, referring to deporting illegal criminal immigrants and the ban on immigration. There were others who made similar comments like New Jersey Democratic Rep. Bill Pascrell, another dino that needs to go and a spokeswoman for Texas Democratic Rep Sheila Jackson Lee said the congresswoman won’t sake Trump’s hand. She didn’t even have the nerve to say it herself. Just what we need in Congress another coward!

When he walked in, there were real men and woman sitting on both side of the aisle welcoming in President Trump, not afraid to shake his hand, while others turned to heads as he came near. When the camera swept the room during his speech it looked more like the room was filled with the Hatfield’s and McCoy’s.  One side of the room erupting with cheers at the message the President laid out while others sat as if he had just offended their honor.

I mean their reaction to repeal and replace Obamacare so every American really can afford to have health insurance and not be punished by the government for not having it, while at the same time seeing to it that people with preexisting conditions will still be covered, was a joke. The Republicans were in support of the possibility and so were some Democrats but please for those who were not, to give him the thumbs down motion, to boo  him, what did you think you were attending a high school wrestling match or a Congressional Address? I get it, you loved our past president and all he stood for but don’t you think it is time for a change, there's room for change? Why are you so against helping all Americans? Maybe you should all look in the mirror and ask yourself were you being fair last night or were you in there with preconceived opinions and didn’t care what he said you were going to hold fast and refuse to even admit you might be wrong.

Yes, he wants to repeal and replace Obamacare but obviously not all of it since he is willing to admit those with preexisting conditions need to have no bump in the road of their healthcare. Does it disturb you that he doesn’t want to charge those who can’t afford it come tax time or just that you are afraid it will lose the name Obamacare and it will actually be called the Affordable Care Act as it was presented to Congress.

He talked about national pride and fixing our infrastructure, uniting this county once again. Still you kept your seats. When you should have been excited about hearing jobs returning to this country, bringing industry back where it belongs, being made in America once more, this didn’t stir you. Yet you call yourselves not just American’s but representatives of the American people. You are supposed to have our interests at heart. I don’t care what party you are affiliated with, before you are a Democrat or Republican, you are an American.

I am happy to see you approved of Our President’s support of our law enforcement and military because without these brave young men and women on our front lines here and abroad you would not have the freedoms you do today to act the fool!

I think the most disgraceful part of the evening was when some Democratic leaders chose not to stand when President Trump introduced the widow of fallen Navy SEAL William “Ryan” Owens who was killed in the line of duty this past January 29th, 2017. Mrs. Owens received an amazing standing ovation, with tears in her eyes, prayers in her heart, as she looked up to the heavens and spoke to her husband, she was overwhelmed with outpouring of love and respect she felt in that room. Still as the camera scanned the room there were those who refused to show even this widow of a fallen war hero even one ounce of respect. Now no matter what you may have decided about President Trump this woman, who is still grieving the loss of her husband who was on his 12th tour serving this great nation when he lost his life in the line of duty, deserved everyone’s respect in that room. Acting like a child isn’t going to score you any points come election time. Why not just hold your breathe till you turn blue? No pun intended.

My thoughts on last night’s address, I will admit, I saw a different Trump then we have seen in the past but it was warranted. He was Presidential facing Congress because that is what he needed to be. He needed to be honest and opened with them. Laying out his plans and ideas so they understood what he wanted was unity and peace so they could move ahead and make the improvements needed to build a better tomorrow. He didn’t need to be in rally mode. He needed to let them know what his administrations goals are and how he wanted both parties to work together towards a better tomorrow.

It felt good to hear him refer to Radical Islamic Terrorism and not just call it ISIS OR ISLE. This is where he made the separation other politicians seemed to miss. By saying ISIS people clump Muslims together with that title. Not knowingly, or perhaps knowingly, many politicians who refuse to use the words Radical Islam have clumped all Muslims into one category, radicals, murders, self-serving, self-righteous, savages. By stating Radical Islamic terrorism you acknowledge not all Muslims are radical and not all Muslims want to see the destruction of our country or theirs.

I felt he addressed many fears people had with Obamacare being repealed and replaced as he promised during his campaign. Once again breaking down his idea to make insurance companies compete from state to state I have to agree. Right now I am trying to help a relative of mine who is struggling with her healthcare because she listened to someone who told her what to pick and now she is having a hard time getting a doctor who will take this insurance. We don’t need that. We don’t need people being turned away because insurances don’t pay the doctors and in doing so they are dropped and doctors don’t have to accept them. Some people go through life not needing doctors except for the occasional cold or flu but others need to know they have an insurance company behind them. One that will pay the bills when they are due and not one that will slowly but surely be refused by one doctor after another.

All in all the message I took out of this address was a call for unity and peace. A call to concentrate on improving things in this country from closing our boarders, to deporting illegal criminal immigrants, improving our healthcare, taking care of our police and military, seeing to it our children have a better and brighter tomorrow by improving our education, fixing our infrastructure, bringing jobs back to this great nation and once again seeing made in America!

Congress, President Trump’s message was loud and clear last night. You were elected to do a job for the American people, with the American people’s best interest at heart not your agenda or what is going to put more money in your pocket with this lobbyist or that but what is going to improve things for all Americans. What President Trump called for last night was “peace and unity,” for everyone to work together to build a brighter future for all and a legacy for our children and grandchildren to grow with them and improve their lives. I for one think the only way we can reach these goals is to once again become these UNITED STATES OF AMERICA!

May God Bless American and May God Bring our lawmakers and President Trump together in peace and harmony so they can fix what needs to be fixed and improve on whatever needs to tweaking.
